News From Other Places

News from Nebraska

My computer arrived by UPS Thursday and I had it up and running today, Saturday. I was happy to see it wasn't damaged in shipping.

Ruth and I had a pleasant flight home to Omaha on the 18th. Our daughter who lives in Mesa, flew home with us. She is a flight attendant on Allegiant Airlines and can fly free on any airline if there are seats available. At first we were concerned that she wasn't going to get on the plane because it appeared to be full but at the last moment she got on and sat with us.

Before we left Rock Shadows we joked that we ordered warm weather for us in Omaha when we got home. We got more than we wished for as the temperature was very warm this week. Yesterday, the temperature reached 89° but ,as the saying goes." if you don't like the weather, wait a minute". That certainly held true because this afternoon the temperature is only 46°. Typical weather for the month of April.

Hope all of our good Rock Shadows friends made it home safely and that they have a good and healthy summer and that we we will meet again this fall.

Our Nebraska Rock Shadows group, consisting of former residents and current residents, is having our first year's monthly luncheon Tuesday, in Omaha. We meet the last Tuesday of the month and alternate between Omaha and Lincoln.

News from Snowy Montana

Well, needless to say, our friends & neighbors are asking us if we wished we would have stayed in Arizona a little longer. You would think we would learn by now or go out and buy a snow blower. We have 4 to 5 inches of snow on the ground and it is still snowing hard! We've had several smaller storms before this one but there is some predictions that we could get 18" or more.
I am assuming that everybody got home okay. As it is the norm for everybody after they get home, we have both been to the doctor's office's several times plus the dentist's office and now we both are going to either physical therapy or the chiropractor.
Shortly after we got home, I figured it was time to get something done with our Laptop. It had slowed down considerably and plus we were having other problem's as well. The main item was that it kept locking up on us and then it would say " MSN not responding" and then I would have to get out of that program I was on. Also when we bought this laptop, we purchased a newer version of Print Master and had installed it but it would never work properly. Also while we were in Arizona, the web cam sound stopping working and also the CD drive wouldn't function. Thank goodness I bought an extended warranty with the Laptop. I called the company that we had the warranty with and after several minutes looking into his manual, he asked me if we had installed I-tunes into our computer. And yes it was installed, along with the Muvee software. I uninstalled the Muvee software while down south but not the I-tunes. So when I did that, the Web Cam sound worked and CD driver worked. He said that I-tunes is not compatible with Vista yet. As the process went along, I did some checking to see if the drivers for Printmaster were available and low & behold one of the drivers was just made available as of March 16, 2009 for Vista. So I had Printmaster for about 2 years and couldn't us it. After the technician had me do some checking different functions, he said that there is hardly any free space on the Ram. He said that there was either a worm or a virus and that I would have to do a complete restore. So I did the restore and then had to re-install all of my software programs and then re-install everything from my external HD. That has been enjoyable to say the least. I'm still arranging things a little differently. Needless to say, it does pay to back-up your data & pictures. Well, enough of this.
Chuck, I appreciate what you did in setting up those computers for the foyer area at the Lab. Hopefully somebody will be able to use them. Also, hopefully the equipment that was purchased to enhance a better signal for our computer meetings. Again, Chuck, thank you very much for everything you've done there. It is truly appreciated!
Hopefully we can get more people to send you some letters for the newsletter! There has been a good response in the members lounge.
Hope everybody can enjoy their "spring & summer".
Take care,

Dale & Elsie Clark

News from Prescott Valley

We are back in our home in Prescott Valley. We have had beautiful day time weather. The nights were still in the freezing range but have warmed up now. When we left the Valley last Saturday we had the air conditioner on and the first thing we did upon arriving here was to turn the heat on. All that in only two hours. We now have daytime temperatures in the 70s. We have the top down in our little red car. You could not do that in Montana.

The Diamondbacks are still struggling. They lost to the Chicago Cubs Tuesday evening 11 to 3 and won Wednesday evening against the same team 10 to 0. Go figure. They have now won 9 games and lost 12 games for a .429 average. They are next to last ahead of Colorado in the National League West. The season is very young so we may still win the 2009 World Series.
