ROCKCOMP COMPUTER CLUB

The RockComp newsletter has returned to a weekly edition for the winter season. The reason for doing this is to provide up to date information for the members.  All minutes of business meetings will be posted as well as new class schedules and any other information that will be provided to the members. If you wish to add anything to the newsletter please send to me via e mail.

Frequently check the Activities button for updated class information. Check the News button at the top of the page for information on club activities and general meeting speakers. Both of these pages are updated as new information is received.

From Clem Brisson in Michigan

Got a little snow this past week.  Would invite you over for a drink on the deck but as you can see there isn't much room left for our glasses. Maybe you can put this picture in your news letter so everyone one can see what they are missing.

Business meeting minutes of the RockComp computer club for Wednesday, December 02, 2009

The monthly RockComp computer club meeting was called to order by President Dale Clark on Wednesday, December 02, 2009 at 0930. Everyone stood for the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

This being the first Wednesday of the month it was our business meeting.

Dale Clark introduced the officers of the club, VP Winston Heough (absent), Treas. Dale Fosjord, Pat Mueller, acting sec., and trustees, Jim Lettenmaier, Chuck Rickard and Irv Swanson (absent).

Pat Mueller read the minuets of the previous meeting held on November 4th. There was one correction to be made and that was Jim Lettenmaier has not been paid. Ralph Hattery made a motion to accept the minutes as corrected and Jeanne Frey seconded. Motion carried.

The treasurer’s report was given by Dale Clark for Dale Fosjord. We have $2,202.07. Two bills were paid, one to Chuck Rickard for $49.43 and MediaCom $26.05. There were also two deposits made, $273.00 and $545.00. Jim Lettenmaier made a motion to approve the report and Fred Kudym. Motion carried.

Next were committee reports. Jim Lettenmaier reported on EVACC. They meet once a month. They are now rotating the meeting sites instead of having it always at the same place. The next meeting will be December 14th at 6:30pm at the Mesa Regal. If anyone is interested in going contact Jim or Dale Clark.

Dale Clark put sign up sheets on the counter for upcoming classes. Times and where will be posted later. So far 62 people have signed up for classes and only 6 instructors. The first class starts tomorrow the 3rd which is Jim Lettenmaier class on transferring tapes to DVD’s in the Hamilton Room.

Don Hamilton spoke on membership and the importance of signing the attendance sheet when it is passed around. We also found out he had a senior moment last Monday as he forgot to go and make coffee for the 50/50. Don’t worry Don we all have those.

Fred Kudym thanked everyone for helping last Monday at the 50/50. We did make $47.00. He also announced our next 50/50 will be March 8th. He also announced that the pot luck will be Thursday, February 25th at 4:00 pm.

Grace Lunt gave a report on the manuals she makes and hands out to the new members. She is asking instructors for a synapse of their class so she can include this.

Reminder the lab is opened right now on Thursday evenings only from 7-9pm.

New business: It was recommended by the Executive Board that we replace 3 of the older computers that are on the north wall of the lab. Chuck Rickard would do the replacing. These would have Microsoft 7 and Microsoft 2007 Home & Student edition. The original price would be approximately $1,260.00 plus tax, but Chuck reported that that special was over with. It was amended that the total amount should now go over $1,400.00. Jim Lettenmaier made a motion to approve and Diane Puukila seconded. Motion carried.

Jim Lettenmaier will purchase the VHS-DVD software for $59.99 plus tax. This will be used in his new class.

Chuck Rickard also reported on our web site: www.rockcomp.org. There is very good information that Chuck puts on it, so check it out.

Delores Woodrow made a motion to adjourn the meeting and Barb Hocking seconded. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 10:40am.

Respectfully submitted,

Pat Mueller
Acting Secretary
