The RockComp newsletter has returned to a weekly edition for the winter season. The reason for doing this is to provide up to date information for the members.  All minutes of business meetings will be posted as well as new class schedules and any other information that will be provided to the members. If you wish to add anything to the newsletter please send to me via e mail.

Frequently check the Activities button for updated class information. Check the News button at the top of the page for information on club activities and general meeting speakers. Both of these pages are updated as new information is received.

Business meeting minutes of the RockComp computer club for Wednesday, November 4, 2009

President Dale Clark called the meeting to order at 9:30 AM in the main hall of the Rock Shadows RV Park.  First on the agenda was the pledge of allegiance to the US flag by all.  There were 14 residents present with two being new members to the club.  President Dale read the minutes from the April 1, 2009 meeting that were posted on the web site.  He then introduced and mentioned past and current officers

Treasurers report was $1459.85 as of October 9, 2009.  There are no bills outstanding.  We will be getting a billing from Mediacom for broadband access in the computer lab. Motion made by Jim Lettenmaier that we accept the treasurer’s report, seconded by Chuck Rickard.  Motion carried.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

AZZAC--- Dale Clark reported on the October meeting of AZZAC.  Main concerns were obtaining speakers once a month that meets the needs of each club as offered by AZZAC.  A reminder to keep February 20-21, 2010 open as a future large AZZAC meeting open to all.  Will consist of all day long sessions and lots to learn.  Last season, the club paid for the registration fee of Jim Lettenmaier to attend.  There will also be a Southwest AZZAC conference held next summer in California if anyone is interested.  Dale would like to see more of the local club members be involved in helping select upcoming speakers.  He will be available to show you how to view the AZZAC web site for suggested speakers available.

EVVAC—JIM LETTENMAIER stated that he would be attending the November meeting.  He just arrived yesterday and does not have all the details of the upcoming meeting.  More next week.

ATTENDANCE:  DON HAMILTON stressed the importance of each person each week signing up on the attendance sheet.  The total attendance of each meeting is noted for speaker summaries as part of the requirements to have outside speakers speak at our meetings.  Don would like to see that the attendance clip board be the first on the agenda each meeting.  Dale Clark stated that he would put that on his list.

SPECIAL EVENTS:  FRED KUDYM announced that the first 50/50 will be held on Monday, November 30th.  Please note on your calendar to help.  Fred will announce dates of future events next meeting.

WEBMASTER/COMPUTER LAB:  CHUCK RICKARD explained about the use of our web site.  www.rockcomp.org.  Please check it out to obtain more information about the club and activities planned.  Chuck has installed on a trial basis, a computer set up in the lobby that will give anyone access to view their email and look up things on the internet.  You cannot print, save or download, but is there for your use.  We do not know how long it will be available, as it will need to be kept in working order.  Chuck has “windows 7” installed on the club laptop.  He has updated the 5 computers on the south wall of the lab and will be working on the north wall computers next.  Chuck also mentioned that “Microsoft Security Essentials” has replaced “One Care Live” which as been discontinued by Microsoft.  One care live will not work on windows 7.  Also remember before you install Microsoft Security Essentials, you will need to uninstall any current virus program you have on your computer, including one care live.

NEW MEMBER MANUALS:  GRACE LUNT spoke to remind all new members that we have manuals available and be sure to obtain from the treasurer.  She will continue to keep them update and that they are for only first time new members, we do not update prior manuals.  Each member will need to do that by them selves.

Dale Clark, president asked that the meeting be adjourned.  Motion made by Chuck Rickard and 2nd by Darlene Johnson.  Meeting adjourned at 10:25 AM.

Minutes of Executive Board Meeting… April 03, 2010

President Dale Clark opened the exec meeting of RockComp at 9:00 AM, April 03 in the Rickard Lab. Those present were Dale Clark, Dale Fosjord and Chuck Rickard.
President Clark was serving as acting secretary and was unable to get the March 2009 minutes because the Rockcomp website was down.
Treasurer Dale Fosjord gave the treasurers report with a balance of $1459.85. There was no outstanding bills at this time. MediaCom was contacted to get the lab equip turned on. Their bill will be forthcoming. Treasurer Fosjord was wondering about the sheets for signing up members at the general meeting. He was able to get the info and sheets from our generous go to man—Don Hamilton. It was a good thing that he did or we wouldn’t have the coffee or attendance sheets either. There again President Dale Clark learned something in his early tenure as President. Thanks Don!!
WebMaster Chuck Rickard informed us that everything is up and running again on the Website. He also mentioned that the sound and that we should be able to have better access to the Internet now with the new Hawking Hi-Gain Signal Booster.
President Dale gave a brief outline of the AZaac meeting that he attended. Because of the economy, we are having trouble getting speakers at our meetings. They also indicated that they have some new local speakers that we could be using as well. They needed input from us and we indicated that the small audience that was in attendance. Where is the rest of the group and their input.
The meeting adjourned at 9:45 AM
