Business meeting minutes of the RockComp computer club for Wednesday, March 03, 2010

The business meeting of the Rock Comp computer club was called to order by the President, Dale Clark on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at 9:30am. Everyone stood for the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
The attendance sheet was passed around for everyone to sign in. We had 39 members present.
Officers present: Dale Clark, Winston Heogh, Dale Fosjord. Absent: Carol Hayden. Trustees present: Chuck Rickard and Jim Lettenmaier. Absent: Irv Swanson.
Reading of the last business meeting was deferred because of the absence of the Secretary, Carol Hayden.
Treasurer’s report was given by Dale Clark for Dale Fosjord. We have a total $1,041.12 is our banking account as of Feb. 28, 2010. Don? made a motion to accept the report and Chuck Rickard seconded. Motion carried.
Awards and certificates were handed out to 20 instructors, lending hands and volunteer of the season. They were: Jean Frey, Ralph Hattery, Carol Hattery, Carol Hayden, Barbara Hocking, Jim Lettenmaier, Gene Lingenfelter, Pat Mueller, Hugh Neideffer, Diane Puukila, Geneva Seitz, Penny Swanson, Don Hamilton and Chuck Rickard. A large applause was given to all.
Jim Lettenmaier reported on the conference that he went to in February. It was very informative and he watched them transfer music from 78 and 45 records via a turntable to the computer and then burn to a DVD. He thought that maybe the club should purchase the software for this in the future. Dale Clark was unable to attend this conference so he did return the $100.00 to the computer club. Jim also talked about the EVACC meeting at Val Vista and commented on their computer labs and the equipment they have available.
Jim Lettenmaier class last Thursday was cancelled as the room was being used. He will set up another date and time for his last class at a later time.
There are two classes still in session for two more weeks. They are Genealogy and Graphics.
Fred Kudym thanked everyone for helping with the clubs pot luck last week. A good time was had by all. He also reminded that we have the 50/50 this coming Monday, March 8th and again needs help to set-up tables, chairs, make coffee and serve and also sell tickets for the 50/50. Volunteers should show up at 8:30am that morning.
The computer lab remains open on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7-9pm.
Chuck Rickard reminded instructors and whoever else has keys to the lab to turn them back to him as he is the key master.
Next business was the proposed changes to the Bylaws. Don Hamilton read the proposed change. This proposed change has been on the web site and also in the parks newsletter also the current bylaw in the newsletter where everyone should have read them. Don Hamilton made a motion to accept the change and Winston Heogh seconded. Dale Clark then asked if there was any discussion regarding this motion. Pat Mueller asked for more of a verification of this bylaw such as does this mean at any meeting does it mean that the officers present and only one paid member constitute a quorum and they can vote on all matters before them and the answer was yes. Other discussion from other members also voiced their concern of this few of members being able to decide motions before the board. After much discussion the motion was voted on and it was defeated 16-13. Two proposals were presented before the membership. One being that the membership present at a business meeting will constitute a quorum. The other being that five members present at a business meeting would constitute a quorum. Both proposals were tabled at this time. These proposals will be carried over to the November 2010/April 2011 season.
Jean Frey commented on the Craft and Art Fair last Sunday. The digital camera class had numerous pictures they had taken and displayed. Thank you Jean for setting up the display and being there to answer questions. She also announced that she would not be teaching the camera class next season.
St. Patrick’s Day is fast approaching and anyone interested in participating for the computer club should meet in the northwest corner of the park where the parade will start at 11am.
Our speaker on March 10th will be Peter Nolan, the owner of SoftQue the oldest full service computer store in the East Valley. They specialize in computer repair including Laptops. They will also give us a presentation of Face book. On March 17th Don Cook will talk to us on GPS devices and March 24 Charyle Calvert of Cartridge World.
Dale Clark asked how many members would be around for the 04-07-2010 business meeting. From the present members present it looked like about 10-12
A motion to adjourn at 10:45 was made by Jean Frey and seconded by Pat Mueller. Motion carried.
